RENTED LIFE 28

Unknown to her, Aliyah had been under the weather that day and she wanted to grab some Galitos chicken but was not in the mood of driving. Aaliyah had asked Simon to drive her there and he did not hesitate to do her that favor as he was looking for an opportunity to tell him about how he had decided to go on with his plan of introducing Kuni to his parents. At this point, Simon was hanging on a thread as his parents were finally arriving that week and he needed to make sure all was in place before they came. If all went went well, Simon would remain alone as Amanda would finally be joining them. One thing though was certain, this was less about Amanda than it was about him, he was much more positive that Kuni was the woman and he was willing to give it a serious shot. Before pulling over at Aaliyah’s house, Simon called Kuni and they enjoyed talking as he told her how much he had missed her and was hoping they could meet but work was stressful and he was just heading home to rest. Kuni was very understanding and even encouraged him to rest, she did not mention anything about going shopping as Simon had a tendency of always shopping for her and this made her feel like she was being a bother even though he not once made her feel that way.

“Ok honey you rest I love you...” Kuni said after Simon mentioned he was heading home.

“I love you more my princess, as soon as I shower and relax, I will call you so we talk before we sleep. I love you so much” he said.

Kuni smiled and headed to pack her bag in readiness for her shopping spree. The ride to the mall was smooth sailing, Kunii was humming to the song playing in the car and she was in high spirits as she felt blessed. Everything seemed to have been working out just fine and she was more than grateful to God. When they arrived at the mall she cleared her bill and straight away decided to head on to Galitos to have something to eat before shopping. She had been there before. Something about their chicken had left her mouthwatering from the first time she went there with Aaliyah. On any day, Aliyah would pick Galitos kitchen over anything and kuni understood why. It was very addictive.

While Kuni sat waiting for her order to be brought, she stared at the glass walls unconsciously watching people passing with a heart full of gratitude with how everything had been unfolding. God had truly been faithful, the chief had recompensated her family and their house had since been rebuilt. It was bigger and better. She now had a beautiful job with a great pay and she had even made a down payment on her first car. It was her dream to one day own a car. What more could she ask for? And like that wasn’t enough she was meeting the parents of the man who had swept her off her feet? Kuni was even more grateful for Aliyah she truly felt indebted to her because without her, she would not have her job and she would have never gone to the party where she met Simon. As she dwelled on her gratitude and the beauty of God’s love, her eye’s spotted Simon. She was so excited but also shocked that he had come to the mall, he was obviously going to be a little mad that she went to the mall without informing him but that was the least of her worries. Before she could even get up, there she was, Aliyah, her best friend. She was hurrying up to Simon and she held his hand while he gave her back her purse. It was then that she noticed that he was holding her purse.

“My God…” Kuni looked in shock.

Kuni quickly realized that they were headed into Galitos and she picked a food menu. Kuni held it up to her face while peeping to see where they were going to sit. Aliyah walked past her and Simon followed shortly after her and they sat in the eating booth just behind her. Luckily, you could not see each other but could clearly hear each other if you spoke loudly. Her heart raced. She needed answers.

  1. We don’t want the truth now, let’s wait a bit for her to meet the parents.
