RENTED LIFE CHAPTER 29

 

Kuni was confused but very attentive to hear what they were saying, her food was served and she quietly accepted her order and dismissed the waitress making sure she was not heard. Simon soon began to speak; he was very calm and his voice sounded deep and genuine as always.

“Aaliyah, I have been trying to see you and talk to you… why have you been avoiding me?” he asked.

Simon was calculating his words very well as he knew any slight mistake would trigger Aaliyah and his plan would fail.

“Simon, why where you looking for me? I thought that…”

“Aaliyah please listen to me…” he interrupted.

“Aaliyah I am sorry. I really have been wanting to talk to you… I have a lot to say” he said.

“Simon….”

“No Kuni please hear me out...”

“Kunii? I am Kunii now?” Aaliyah asked in an angry tone

“Aliyah… sorry… oh my...”

“Simon, are you still seeing Kuni? I just want to be sure... you can be honest with me…”

Kuni heart ached at hearing Aaliyah even ask such a question, how distasteful, was she going out with her man? Why would her best friend even be demanding to know such a thing? Why would she care? Was he trying to break them apart? Was the reason why she has been hell bent on discouraging Kuni?

“No… Aaliyah I have not been seeing Kuni. I told you this already”

Simon calculated his words very well, all he needed was Aaliyah in on the plan until his parents left then he would eventually come clean or probably use his parents and tell her that they have forced him to marry her.

“Aaliyah, I have to be honest with you about something though…. Yes, I have not been seeing her but I reached out to her recently… my parents are finally coming and I still want Amanda to leave… I have been trying to call you so that I tell you this but you have been avoiding. I know we had a misunderstanding but I just wanted you to know that I am in touch with her again and as per agreement initially between us, I need her to act as my girlfriend just for the tike that they will be here. I know once they see that I am committed to someone they will take Amanda”

“Simon…”

“Aaliyah trust me... my parents come in three days… I just need to go ahead with this until she is gone… can you help me? Remember our plan?”

“Your plan was before all this happened… Simon you and I have come too far, Kuni doesn’t deserve this and I changed my mind… I got Kuni the job to take her away from all this mess… Simon we are toxic. Look at how toxic our relationship has been. How many times have we been on and off, what is it that I wouldn’t do for you? I knew this would be a disaster and I could not imagine putting my friend through all this. She does not deserve this at all she is innocent. Let’s keep our toxicity between us, keep her out of this. I did it only for the money… you gave me an offer I could not resist Simon but do you really think I would do this? I am not capable of seeing you love another woman...”

“But nobody said anything about love…”
