GETTING THEM 17
GETTING THEM 17
Thandiwe was settling in her boarding house
when she got a message from Austin
stating that he wanted to see her, it had been 7 months up in their
relationship and she had built a steady connection with him. A lot of things
ran through her head as she planned out what she was going to say to him,
Thandiwe was not ready to address this but maybe it was time. After talking to
Lumbiwe about Austin, Thandiwe had a
lot to take in and she had to decide
whether she wanted to go ahead and take this relationship serious or not. In
Lumbiwe’s words “You need to be sure he has cleared his past otherwise you are
in for a ride”.
Thandiwe had just managed to finish
spreading her bed when Austin called and asked to meet her outside. He knew
exactly where she was as he was present when she negotiated for her room in
school and it seemed to have worked out well, he could not drop her at school
as he was working earlier that day. It had also been a week since they saw each
other and that’s because some tension was stirring between them. Turned out
Litase and Salome were going to be Thandiwe’s neighbours as they were in the
next room, it was so strange to realise the two girls were actually in
university and both doing economics. Thandiwe was impressed that they were
actually so intelligent and pursuing something as challenging as that, she
could not stop talking about them and this had Austin sick in his stomach. It
was not easy to leave with the fact that he would probably lose his girlfriend
to the influence of these girls.
THANDIWE’S POV
I threw a cardigan on top as it was getting
chilly outside. The leggings I wore initially were now making me feel cold
hence I changed into a track bottom. My roommate was not around as she was
still with her family and would only come in school in two days. Salome was
seeing her boyfriend that night and Litase chose to spend a night in my room.
She was not around when I decided to see Austin for a short while as she was
somewhere at large. The two ladies were now in their second year so I had
people to take me through university life.
Walking out slowly to the car park I
thought of how Austin and I had built a great relationship and we had taken our
time as we did not rush in to anything that would hurt us both. I was uncertain
of the future but I knew school came first, I had to give my best and then
maybe Austin would come in somewhere. Finally Austin’s car was in sight and I
sighed heavily as I prepared myself for his lecture concerning the girls, I had
come to learn something about Austin and that was he could not let something go
until he was sure his point was heard. Austin stepped out of the car and
reached out to me for a hug, I understood his worries as this was something he
had gone through, he needed my assurance that I would not do the same thing his
ex-did. A warm embrace is all I needed after all the tension we went through.
“I love you so much” he whispered.
“I love you too honey”
