RENTED LIFE 6

 

Kuni gazed in the direction of the fine looking gentle man who had just stopped her after hurrying behind her. He was a fine man with just the right build, he dressed so well and his perfume could be perceived  from across the walk way. It was a bit confusing to figure out why he would stop her, it looked like he was lost or missing something. That seemed like a fair judgement provided that they it was evident they were from two different side of the world. Kuni smiled politely awaiting to here what he would say but instead he stared at her awe.

 

“Sir, I believe you stopped me that’s why I am standing here” Kuni eventually brought herself to say

 

Simon quickly brushed his thoughts and smiled as he extended his hand to shake hers.

 

“I am sorry, nice to meet you I am Simon” He said

 

Kuni kept her hand back as she nodded her head in a kind gesture to acknowledge” his greeting. Quickly pulling his hand back, Simon began to explain himself.

 

“My name is Simon and I saw you as you headed to the ladies I presume… well I waited here patiently. I must say your beauty is very captivating…would you mind being my friend?” He asked

 

Everything he said sounded like Chinese. Kuni could not fathom the idea that this done man standing right before her thought she was beautiful and was asking her to be his friend. She maintained her smile as she explained that they were total strangers and maybe if they met again she would consider.

 

“Well I am here with my sister, she must be around somewhere. I hope I do actually see you again. If that is fate then…” 

 

Simon did not wait to hear her response, he immediately vanished from her sight before she could process what just happened. Kuni quickly hurried to the car where Aaliyah was slowly unpacking their stuff for the picnic, she noticed her friend looked a little excited. 

 

“You look excited. What happened?”

 

“Do I??? Well I met a certain guy and I don’t want to jinx it but the guy is so fine Aaliyah. You know the kind of fine that he can make you just want to accept him immediately but hey… it’s too soon”

 

Aaliyah slammed the boot in excitement 

 

“What are you saying, you met a fine guy?” She asked in shock 

 

“Yes boyi and uhmmmm” Kuni cleared her throat as she gathered herself.

 

“He came to greet me and told me that we should be friends but it’s too soon you know… I honestly regret what if I don’t meet him again?”

 

“We where did he go? And you told him it’s too soon? What is this? The 19^th century?? Girl we are too grown to worry about sharing contacts with someone you just met… anyway I believe he must around and if he is serious he will pop up again”

 

Kuni agreed with her friend while keeping her fingers crossed.

 

“Hopefully he comes to say hai again” she said 

 

“Ya and I guess the nerves have gone down now right?”

It was soon became dark and chilly, the evenings were soon calling for the night and Aaliyah was tired but so was Kuni. Although Kuni did not want to leave without seeing her prospect suitor again.

 

“Let me use the bathroom one last time, I think it will be time to start off. Are you not tired? I have had too much to drink”

 

The ladies had mingled well with others and had eventually found themselves a spot near the live band where others had spread their picnic mats and were enjoying the music. They had enough food and drinks and it seemed fairly wise that they go home to rest.

 

“Sure. I also want to go to the ladies”

 

“Ok let me return”

 

Aaliyah headed to the bathroom but shortly pulled out her phone to call Simon for the 6^th time that evening. He finally picked up and she furiously asked furiously what he was up to but his silence was appalling. 

 

“Simon, I drove all the way here for this tipis picnic just for you and this is how you decide to behave”

 

“Aaliyah we agreed to keep it as natural as possible, I will see her again tomorrow” he said dismissively

 

“Ahh I see what this is about, do you already like her?

 

Simon didn’t respond but instead hang up, Aaliyah was irritated but gathered herself and decided to walk back to the car. However, he noticed Simon was leaning over by her passengers window talking to someone. It was clearly Kuni. Aaliyah  excitedly hid as she watched her friends interact and giggle. Simon begun pressing his phone and Aaliyah jumped with joy. It wasn’t long after Simon left that Aaliyah headed back to the car.

 

“You missed him again just right here, he was here”

 

“Who?” Aaliyah asked unconcerned

 

“The guy I told you about earlier… my crush. He came again and we exchanged numbers

 

Aaliyah adjusted her car seat and started led the engine.

 

“This your crush is beginning to sound like a ghost” 

 

“No he isn’t, I don’t Ben have him like this time” Kuni said excitedly 

 

“Well that’s good” Aaliyah responded
