RENTED LIFE 8

 

Simon took one last look at himself in the mirror before grabbing a glass of juice in the kitchen; he had very limited time to pick up his visa card which he had left in his office as he had some shopping to do for the house. Simon had also made a few changes to his schedule that day, instead of going out he decided to surprise Kuni with lunch by his house  and he was going to start with the maid centre first because Aaliyah needed a maid. Simon had not yet made mention to his date that he intended to take her to his home but he hoped it would be a bad idea to start with lunch by his house just so she could get familiar with his environment and understand that she was dealing with a serious guy. As he was headed to the TV room, Simon ran into his maid by the kitchen entrance who he quickly updated on the plans of the day. He was very specific on the type of food he wanted on the menu and what he needed available. She quickly explained what was not there and he made a shopping list on his phone.

“Please make sure this place is spotless clean and also...” Simon posed

“Where is Amanda? He asked

“She is sleeping on the couch in the living room, it seems like she slept there”

Simon sighed heavily.

“Please excuse me...” he said

Amanda was peacefully sleeping on the couch clad in cargo pants, beige boots and brown hoodie.  Next to her was a bottle of whisky, she had just returned from a drinking spree the previous night.

“Madam, can you get up and freshen up.... and please ... act like a lady” Simon said to his sister before grabbing the bottle of whisky.

Amanda looked at her brother cheekily before covering her face with her hoodie.

“Amanda I will not repeat myself”

“Simon I am not your child and secondly don’t you have a girlfriend or something? At least somebody to keep you busy rather than always picking on me”

“As a matter of fact I do and she will be joining us for lunch today so please go and freshen up and act like a matured person. You are 21 for crying out loud, you are done with university, act your age”

Amanda slowly dragged herself from the seat and staggered towards the door. Simon looked on in disappointment; she noticed the look on his face and stopped.

“Point of correction, I am 20 going on 21 in four months which technically means I am still 20. As for the lunch with your girlfriend... I would love to meet her. It’s about time”

Simon stood in despair wondering what he could do to have this burden off his shoulders; Amanda had completely refused to behave like a lady. She preferred sweat shirts over dresses and she often wore colognes and it was common to see her shop from the men’s section. She had been the top of her class throughout high school and was the best designer student from the arts and crafts college. Not once did she disappoint her parents academically but her lack of feminine skills left much to be desired. Amanda was also a spoilt brat that she drove to school throughout college and was accommodated with her brother who had two maids taking after her.

“Try to look for your best feminine clothes and please have that Mohawk in a wig” Simon said to his sister who completely ignored him.

There was traffic building up on great east road much to Simon’s dismay, as opposed to surprising Aaliyah with a maid, he decided to call her and inform her about his intentions. Aaliyah did not seem fazed by his call that she dragged her response.

“Simon... your girlfriend will be ready soon I am watching TV”

“I just wanted to let you know that I have taken your request in to consideration and I am sending you a maid”

Aaliyah looked around to make sure Kuni was not in sight but despite not seeing her, she decided to head to the bedroom and continue the conversation from there.

“You are what?” Aaliyah asked catching her breath

“I said, I am sending you a maid and my company will pay”

Aaliyah burst in to laughter before asking Simon if he had lost his mind

“You said you needed a maid and I am making one available that my company will pay for. I want to ensure that I see her as often as I can so that we build a bond before my parents come over”

“Simon, Kuni is a very decent girl, she is not the type that you can sway into a rushed arrangement, one month is good enough time to create a solid relationship without having to see each other every day. Trust me she will not like your desperation, when you are too quick and too forward it’s a complete turn off to a lady. Take your time and ensure that she can naturally start developing interest in you... so throw in some blue ticks here and there and let her start seeking you then you can build it from there”

“I hear you but today’s date is already set and I don’t want to disappoint her. So, what about the maid? Do you still want her?”

“Simon I have a maid but she doesn’t come every day. I would like to have her everyday so I can discuss that with her and you do the paying. Deal?”

“Perfect!! Simon responded

Aaliyah quickly jumped in to reply..

“I mean you pay her every day, not just for the days I am adding”

“Sure, no problem” Simon noted without hesitation.

“This is just about your parent’s right?” Aaliyah asked worriedly

“Of course, I am just doing this to have Amanda out of here”

“Well hope so” she sighed.
