RENTED LIFE 7

It felt like a blessing in disguise when Simons parents communicated and later mentioned their flight had been postponed to a month later, although it was a bit annoying that he had 4 more weeks to put up with his sister; he chose to use this time to date Kuni and make her even more comfortable to easily accept the plan he had in store for her. Simon had a date with a lady who was way out of his league for the very first time in his life. This was something that he never thought would ever happen but it was surprisingly one of the best dates he had ever had. He could listen to Kuni speak all day as her voice was just soothing and she was calmer than any lady he had ever encountered. It was a breath of fresh air to deal with something totally different when for a long time he was used to fights and always trying to reason with the women in his life. It was almost like each one of them came from the same mother, around Simon was so much drama that he had sworn never to get married. Although his parents marriage was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, Simon doubted the possibility of ever being able to have a normal marriage as he was certain the likes of his mother ended before his generation.

Kuni sat in her bed reminiscing over the previous day, Simon had made an impression like no other guy did before. He was so nice and intentional about nearly everything. From asking for her number when they met again just before leaving the picnic to finally taking her out on her first real date the previous day. Everything seemed so surprisingly good, why would she not like him? This guy seemed intentional about everything he did, he was calm and very observant, he listened and talked only when it was appropriate, it was surprising how he was listening to her so much that she felt like she had a found somebody she could tell all her secrets. Simon changed Kuni’s perception about the rich and just how they related with the poor. It was clear the two were world apart but not when they were together, Simon had made her feel so comfortable and like she was a part of that world. Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that she would dine in a five star hotel but that is exactly what Simon did for her on her very first date with him. He left nothing to chance.

Kuni pulled her bonnet off as she rested her feet on the floor, it was Monday and Aaliyah was supposed to be leaving for work anytime so she got up to help make her some breakfast. Aaliyah not once required her friend to do duties such as cleaning or cooking but she was quite lucky that Kuni had filled a gap she lacked whenever the maid was not around. Her house was entirely clean every time and she always had hot delicious food. Her bedroom was always tidied up and when she rushed out for work because Kuni was that friend who didn’t mind taking up her mess.

There was silence leading to the passage and not a sound came from Aaliyah’s bedroom which was quite shocking as she always played music when getting ready. Kuni pressed her phone as she stood before Aaliyah’s door and it was time for her friend to be getting ready. A little tap on the door and Aaliyah responded in a calm voice.

“I started my leave “

“Oh my, I forgot, you mentioned hey..”

“Yes I did… you have forgotten… I’m awake just watching tv. You can come join me if you want”

Kuni nearly touched the door handle to open it but her phone began to ring. It was Simon, she blushed like a child

“I will be coming” she responded before retreating and picking her phone

“Good morning”Kuni greeted

“Good morning beautiful, how are you?“

“I am good thanks and you?, how are you?“ Kuni responded as she tacked back into bed

“I am well, I was thinking about you and how we slept on the phone last night, we spent nearly the entire day together and still talked for two hours later that night, I can’t bring myself to stop thinking about you”

Kuni was so excited but tried everything with her to act calm like nothing was happening within her.

“Kuni, would I be asking for too much if I ask for another date today?“

Kuni was silent but she knew exactly what she wanted to say. There’s nothing else she would rather be doing that day than spending time with Simon. However, she did not want to seem too desperate for him so she decided to hold on and wait for him to ask again.

“Kuni, I’m sorry but I like you a lot and spending time with you is all I want to do today”

“You’re not working?” Kuni asked

“I am the boss… so, what do you think breakfast and then a boat cruise?“

“I would love that but instead of breakfast can we meet at midday so I can do a few things around the house?“

Aaliyah was relaxing and glued to her screen as she heard Kuni start doing chores. Her phone vibrated with a message but she was not expecting any message so she ignored until another message vibrated. She smiled in disbelief when she read the message from Simon.

“can you not afford a maid? Why does she have to postpone our date because she needs to do your chores?“

“These two will not make me busy in my own house” Aaliyah snapped before beginning to aggressively press her phone to give a response.

“there is no princess treatment around here, whoever doesn’t pay bills needs to work. If you want your princess to be available for you at any time, get her a maid”
