GETTING THEM 25
GETTING THEM 25
“Oh my love… I almost thought you had gone forever…
my love this has just happened so fast. I am moving” I said
“You are moving? To where and why?”
I continued packing as I explained to Litase.
“You know my man is full of surprises? He has got me
an apartment to rent. I was not expecting it I am totally shocked. He says he
wants me in a place where he can easily see me and probably sleep over” I said.
Litase was quiet for a moment as she watched me
pack. She then remembered she had kept the young girl waiting and she paid her
off. I sensed the silence was getting too much and I turned to look at Litase.
“You guys are my friends I will always be here to
chat but hey let me just do what he wants… he is an amazing guy. I hate to
disappoint him” I said.
“Sit down for a moment Thandiwe..” Litase said.
“My man is waiting”
“I can drop you off if he is in a hurry but either
way it’s just a short conversation. We won’t be long.. Please sit down. I just
want to talk to you like a sister” she said.
Litase sat on the opposite bed where she was to be
sleeping while I sat on my bed after moving my case to the side. “Thandiwe, I
understand you love this guy and I understand it is your first time being
together intimately that you feel like you can build castles in the air. You
are going about this the wrong way Thandiwe, don’t let a man feel like you owe
him shit… if he loves you so much let him give you money to start something
then you will pay your own rent, he should teach you to be responsible not to
be dependent on him. I do not encourage waiting on a man to pay your rent. Look
my dear; whatever you do in this life make sure you have a backup plan.
Thandiwe you may be new to love but I have come such a long way to understand
that there’s no such thing as love.. yes maybe it exists somewhere somehow but
I would not take the risk for it. I left my comfortable apartment and pushed
for a room in school because I saw myself parting with money that I really needed,
my business was draining me after making a bad financial decision and I had to
make some adjustments. The money in my account can allow me to rent for a whole
year but first I need to be sure that my business is stable, I would obviously
be very useless if I chose to spend all my savings on rent. I have said too
much but my point is this… if you are able to afford your apartment without him
then go ahead but we need to face reality. Love doesn’t always work.
I was suddenly confused, what Litase said made a lot
of sense but it was something about her that made me question everything. Why
would she use medicine to trap men?
“I am not asking you not to go but keep your head up
and plan very well where you are going. I will be visiting you, enjoy his incentives
but be smart. Your first business can be your bed space” she said.
Some advices can just leave you in total confusion
