CHAPTER 13

I told aunty I was going to take a walk with Jeff after she escorted me to meet him, she agreed and mentioned we would find supper ready. I tried to oppose but aunty insisted and Jeff was quick to thank aunty as I he mentioned that he also eats nshima and he loves it. Aunty was glad but I quickly led the way to cut short their pleasantries.

“Jeff… are you crazy?” I asked as we headed towards the gate.

“Crazy? No I am very much okay… you carrying my…”

Yes I am.. but don’t think I will accept to be a side piece simply because of my condition… forget it” I said furiously.

Jeff held my hand and it was then that I noticed aunty was peeping through the window, I highly doubt she heard us but she must have seen my displeasure. I gave into him holding my hand until we left the gate. Before I could quickly pull away Jeff pulled me towards him instead,

“don’t forget I have so much strength, I can even lift you and carry you with me if I like”

“The babies are yours… I am not” I said as eh got way too close for my liking.

Jeff was reaching for my lips and I pulled away.

“Bashi mpundu…. You need to mind your boundaries… I am not Mosha”

I could tell he was confused by my first ststament and I translated. “Well bashi mpundu is how we address a man with twins… simply means father of twins… and I will be reffered to as bana mpundu… meaning mother of twins” I said

Jeff nodded his head and pulled me closer to him again.

“My wife” he said.

I had heard him say this before and it was in chipata when we both were drunk and trying to get free champagne.

“’why does all this seem like a joke to you all of a sudden” I said.

“Pumulo you are my wife and you were always destined to be, I have nothing else to tell you… you are my wife” he repeatedly as he looked me straight in the eyes without blinking.

“Jeff this is not funny… I am pregnant…”

Pumulo we are pregnant.. this right here is our responsibility…” he said while pointing at my tummy”

You really do think this si a joke don’t you?” I asked angrily.

“Pumulo… tell me something… first lets walk on as we talk…” he said while pulling me along.

I can not tell exactly how I was feeling at that time but it was suddenly Jeff like I had known him, the guy I always joked around with. He was here in his full form, the same Jeff I played silly games with. This was ;iterally Jeff my friend and I couldn’t even be mad at him but I really wanted to. This was serious, we had children coming and this guy just wanted to act like all was well. How about  Mosha?

“Jeff, why are you doing all this? What is it for?”

“What?” he asked as we walked on.

“Everything… I need to know why you are acting so calm and collected… what happened yesterday> where is Mosha?”

“Where she needs to be” he sia.

“Where??” I asked.

“Her home” he said,

I stopped walking and looked at him furiously.

“Pumulo, I am a father now and I did not force her to leave… I just told her the whole truth and she threw the rng back at me…’”

“You what?” I asked in shock.

“I told her the truth…” he said.

“Jeff exactly what is your plan? What is your plan in all this.. make me understand” I said.

“Pumulo Jenkins… what do you want me to say?”

This guy had the audacity to even be addressing with his sir name.

“Jeff why are you here?” I asked.

“I am here because that is where I need to be… with the woman who caught my attention on 22^nd may 2016, she wore a purple dress and a black jacket. I wrote that date in my diary”

I gasped. That is the exact date I started my job. Jeff was chatting with the receptionist at that time, I ws indeed in a purple dress and a black jacket. I stood staring at him in shock.

“tell me why I should be anywhere else Pumulo?”

I shook my head.. “no, I don’t want to be the reason why you and …”

Jeff could not left me finish speaking when his lips touched mine.
