CHAPTER 25

Finally walking out of the jet holding my husband’s hand and looking forward to going to my home, I was relieved we were in South Africa. The first thing I noticed was the cold weather, this was not what I was expecting, the chilly weather took away immediately all the dreams I had of flaunting my belly in summer dresses and Jeff quickly picked on my displeasure just as we headed to our car.

“Honey, the weather here changes anyhow but it is not yet winter, it will get hot soon” he said. 

Aunty was taking selfies as we walked on and Jeff romantically put his jacket over my shoulders. 

“Thank you honey” I said.

There was a car pulled over at the airport front with a man standing and holding a small poster up, it read “Mr and Mrs Kim” I smiled and waved so he could see us. Someone came behind with our luggage, our job was just to walk in and be comfortable. 

“Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Kim” he said.

We were of course excited once again and clearly looking forward to the next step in our lives.

“A limousine was a perfect choice” I whispered to Jeff as the chauffeur opened the door for us. 

“Only the best for my baby” Jeff said

As usual aunty would careless, she had already gone round on the other side and she made her way into the limousine. It was gorgeous with blue Neon lights and twinkles in the roof that resembled stars. The car was also warm and comfy. Of course there was food and to aunt’s excitement, there was alcohol.

“Aunty… slow down on the drinks…” I said in a joking tone.

She gave me a side eye and ignored me while she continued sipping on some wine.

“Let her enjoy… mummy enjoy to your heart’s content.. You deserve it” Jeff encouraged her.

“Tell her; tell her that as a mother it is not easy” 

I giggled and just shook my head, I was so happy to see her happy, she stood by me and I was so glad she could finally enjoy. You see, aunty despite not staying with us was always there, I would always call her when aunty made me sad. At one time whilst still doing business, she came home and brought me clothes and many sets of underwear, I remember that so vividly. She even told me to not look down on myself as I would be something more in life other than just a nanny for my aunts grand children.

It was about 30 minutes ride to the apartments and let me start by saying I was shocked, my jaw literally dropped. I had in my mind apartments like condos, or you know something like two bedroom suites or something but these were houses… many houses… about 14 and no they were not just houses but two storey apartments with glass balconies. It was literally an estate, a beautiful estate with a kids play park and convenience stores. I was shocked, this was a movie, it had to be because there was no way.

“Honey… where are we?” I asked in shock

Aunty was peeping through the window like a kid marveling at everything she could see.

“I prefer to call it paradise resort but it really has no name yet, for now we call it area 16”   

Everywhere we passed workers randomly saluted as we passed, I was lost for words. We finally pulled over at one of the apartments and it stood out in a way because it was not only bigger but was also secured from the rest as it was fenced, the rest had beautiful landscapes that you could easily see but no fences. 

“Honey we are home” Jeff said.
