CHAPTER 20

When the car pulled over, Jeff held my hand… “I love you Pumulo and I know one day you will understand why I am doing this”

“I trust you” I said calmly 

Jeff was about to kiss me when suddenly my phone started ringing so loud I could not stand it. 

“Answer it” he said.

I looked at my phone and it was just a number I could not recognize.

“I cannot recognize the number” I said while showing him.

“It is my sister… put her on loud speaker”

I quickly answered and put the phone on speaker.

“Good evening my dear sister in law…” she said before she burst out laughing.

I looked at Jeff and he looked furious.

“Well I called in to say that I have scheduled the appointment for our little secret, I will start off with keeping one part of the deal… send me your account number and I will send you something for a start… just a little something to calm your nerves” she said before laughing again.

“oh and another thing… I am not a crook, best believe I would not use you so I am ready to give you the papers to your new residence and everything that will come with it… be rest assured that I have your interest at heart… don’t forget to send your account number…” she said before hanging up.

It’s funny but this time her words did not injure me one bit, as a matter of fact I simply smiled and put my phone away as I looked at her brother who was so furious.

“Anyway honey, I need you to do this tonight.. pack your bags… tomorrow morning as early as 5 am I am taking you to your new location… meanwhile you will call my sister this evening and tell her that you have thought about it but ask for time and also ask her to convince you that she will not use this against you some day and that you will be safe wherever you will be” 

“But for what?’

“Honey to buy time so she does not make another move”

“But you said she is harmless”

“She is now…” he said.

I could not stop to hear anything else he had to say I just assured him that I would talk to aunty and that I needed to go inside now.

Jeff held my hands again.

“Look at me Pumulo” he said

I hesitantly looked at him and he smiled.

“Do you love me or am I forcing myself on you?” he asked.

“What do you think?” I asked shyly.

“Well I do not know… tell me” he said.

“What am I going to wear on our wedding?” I asked

Jeff smiled… “I know something cute out there can be done for you, a maternity wedding dress” he giggled.

“Do you really want to marry me?” he asked

I looked down and he lifted my chin.

“Do you?”

I knew exactly how I felt about Jeff but I do not know why I was holding back. Jeff reached out in to his pocket and gave me one of his cards from his wallet. He then pulled out a paper from the compartment and jotted the pin.

“ I will be financing this account… you will use this card in cape town but you can also use it here… try and find somebody that can do a dress as quick as possible… what do you think?” 

I nodded my head with a smile and pecked him. “ I love you Jeff”
