GETTING THEM 8

GETTING THEM 9

“Thank you so much” I said to a very quiet Mr Chalwe as he joined the great east road.

“You are welcome… my part is done but I am not working for the rest of the day as I took off… what would you like us to do?” he asked.

I was blank. I had no idea what else but if I could I would suggest we go to a nice place, just like I did with Kalanje.

“I have a place in mind… only if you have never been there before” he said.

“Where?” I asked inquisitively

“It’s a place along Kafue road, it’s called Tiphanny’s canyon... It’s beautiful and this time of the year it is even more beautiful…” he said.

“Well If you say so.. I have never been there”

Mr Chalwe stopped over at the gas station and he filled the car, we also grabbed some snacks then headed out to the mall where we would spend the rest of our day. It seemed like he would be fun to hang out with but it was too early to tell. As we embarked on our journey, he asked if I could swim.

“Of course I can, it was compulsory at school”

“oh ya… so… would you like to swim today?” he asked. “Well I would love to except I will need a costume” I said.

“Don’t worry about that… I have you covered”

I had no idea what that meant until we stopped over at Makeni mall, I was no stranger to this place so I was calm. The figures that were on the costumes I was seeing made me wonder if Mr Chalwe would allow me get any.

“Do you like anything?” he asked as we went round the swim store.

“Well i… uhmmm…”

“What? You don’t? We can check another but I feel they have pretty good stuff in here” he said.

“Yes but quite pricy too” I replied.

He smiled as he looked at me “Pick what you like”

A lady employed by the store came to help me choose and we settled on a pretty peach bikini and throw over beach gown.

“I guess you’re good… shall we?”

“Uhmm I will need slippers…” I confidently but unknowingly replied.

“That’s fine… you can grab something” he replied as he checked on some swim shorts himself.

The lady came through to help and I picked out just the best slippers to suit my outfit and off we went.
