GETTING THEM 9
GETTING THEM 9
We were finally at the beautiful
resort and I was shocked that the place was so familiar, I had been there
before with Kalanje but I must have missed on knowing the name. Well the place
had become even more beautiful and luxurious that I felt like royalty. This man
brought me to such a beautiful place barely a few hours of knowing me, either I
really made a good impression or he was the type of guy who would do anything
to get a woman. I was not surprised that he found me attractive because I would
be a fool to think I wasn’t, I was also not surprised that he picked out the
perfect spot to buy me swim wear. I was worth much more; I always believed it
although reality sort of displayed something different.
“I will go to the bathroom and
change” I remember saying to Mr Chalwe who nodded as he continued to place an
order for our food and drinks.
The bathroom was well put together
with a beach vibe from the shells and pebbles on display to the beautiful art
pieces on the wall demonstrating ocean serenity. I stopped for a moment to
admire the décor before proceeding to a vacant changing room. Some ladies were
having a conversation in the room across and the one next to it, it sounded
like two friends chatting while they changed. I picked out an interesting topic
that made me stay longer as I changed. It being a week day, not many people
were present at the resort and I presume the ladies imagined they were
alone.
“So girlfriend that is it… him
being married should be the least of your worries, are you planning on getting
his marriage?” one of them said.
“Well of course not… I am in it
for the money” the other replied
“Then do what you got to do baby
girl… boyi you have suffered enough… have you not?”
“Of course I have boyi… living
with my bad hearted aunty, ndipo I have put up with a lot, finally getting an
apartment that his man is willing to pay for is just a blessing boyi mwandi.. I
will push and hard … just like I told you, I will push my saloon business.
Nomba ba aunty boyi.. do you think her threats and curses will work ayi?”
“boyi forget your aunty, she just
misses the fact atht she has no one to enslave. Do you want to go back to being
her maid? Have you not worked for her enough and she even failed to take you to
school. Boyi those curses have no power over you, iwe just secure the bag and
make sure you are independent. Poverty is a personal choice elo all those who
judge have just not come close to knowing what suffering is. Secure your bag,
you were not made for mediocrity chikulu the moony he gives you boyi… grabbing
his marriage should not be your aim”
The ladies finally left after both
applauding each other’s outfits, sadly I did not get to see their faces but I
was hopeful that we would meet by the pool area. They spoke a language that was
quite intereting to me. Poverty was not my portion.
I hope you aren't planning to do that too
