RENTED LIFE CHAPTER 22
Ideally, the date was supposed to be throughout lunch only but it so happened that Kuni and Simon had so much to talk about and the more they related the more they wanted to hang out. From eating to watching a movie and finally ending the evening having coffee and dinner together, Kuni could not be happier. Being with Simon eased a lot of her anxiety so much that she escaped worrying about her parents for a while. As they had their dinner Simon had something to share, he clearly stated he did not know how she would take it. Kuni was a little anxious but she exercised her patience as she listened.
“Kuni, I know it’s been a couple of weeks only since
we started talking but I am really happy about our connection, I feel like you
are very different and you completely standout”
Kuni realizing she had heard this speech from Clint
before became less interested, however, Simon noticed her facial expression and
he knew better than to relent.
“My parents are coming into town soon. They won’t be
in for long, probably a week or two. I feel absolutely confident to introduce them
to you…”
Kuni had heard a lot from a man but never that he was
trying to introduce her to his family, that is not something completely new and
strange. It was exciting to hear but also very strange, did he want to
introduce her for the right reason or? But what would honestly be the other
reason/ he obviously saw her as someone special and he wanted the people that
matter to know her. Kuni was still quiet, she gave no response.
“What do you think?”
Kuni looked at Simon shyly.
“I just can’t believe you are serious right now” she
giggled shyly.
“What?”
“Simon, are you serious?”
Simon shrugged his shoulders forward as he leaned in
to face her. Kuni looked down shyly but Simon held her hands and he smiled,
this was supposed to be for the sake of the deal he had with Aaliyah but the
more he looked at Kuni, the more he was convinced she was different. Something
about her was different from every other girl he had known and been with. Kuni
on the other hand was happy but still a little in disbelief, everything seemed
to be moving smoothly but also seemed too good to be true.
“I have never been more sure, I really do mean every
word I am saying. You are amazing and I cannot wait for you to meet my parents”
Kuni still looked a little unsure but Simon assured
her it was just a meeting and things would go on patiently as she wanted and
she need not worry about anything.
“What do you think?”
Kuni nodded her head.
“Alright, I will meet them”
Simon was excited and he rose to give her a tight hug.
“I love you” he said as he held her tight.
Kuni remained quiet, she surrendered into his embrace
as the cool breeze calmed her. It was such a peaceful evening and she was
elated by how thoughtful Simon was. In that moment she knew she needed to think
about this. No matter how good a moment is, it was important that she was
positive and maybe the missing puzzle of all this was hearing what God had to
say. There was one thing important in her decision of the right partner, she
needed to be sure God had approved. Her mother would be very disappointed if
she broke this news to her and she did not mention praying about it.
“When will they be here?” Kuni calmly asked as Simon
held her tight.
“Probably in two weeks’ time”
As they headed out, Simon was wondering why Kuni had
not yet mentioned that she was had found a job and might be relocating. Aaliyah
had mentioned all this to him but she had been quiet about it. However, as soon
as they settled in the car Kuni broke the news to Simon.
“I am still within Lusaka and we will be meeting, I
think it’s better now that I will even be on my won” she said.
Simon nodded his head, it is all the assurance he
needed.
“I am here and I will be here if you need anything, even when relocating I can
help” he said.
