RENTED LIFE CHAPTER 24

As Simon pulled over at the Cosmopolitan mall, he asked Aaliyah what she wanted to eat so they could either eat from the pub or have a meal at another restaurant. They  both seemed to lean towards Mexican food and they ordered the food at a high-end restaurant while they discussed Aaliyah’s work and what she had been up to. Simon could hear exactly what she was saying but his mind sailed in thought to the time he earlier had with Kuni, he had started asking himself why she suddenly seemed to leave a dent on him, it was unlike him and women were never like that. Committing to someone was the last thing on his mind but something about Kuni made him want to spend more time with her chatting and talking and making the most of their time together. For whatever reason, he did not look at Kuni as a woman he just wanted to be intimate with, Kuni was the lady he would choose to just sit and relate with and he would still be very content. It did not make sense.

“Your mind is drifting again; I hope you are not worrying about work” Aliyah said.

Simon quickly brushed his thoughts aside and he smiled at Aliyah seated opposite him and very attentive to him.

I will be okay, I guess I just need to brush these thoughts off more. I am glad you are  here... I am so glad we are together right now” he said.

“don’t mind, I am here, it doesn’t matter, I love being here”

The two had a good laugh and finally net to drink the night away. Aaliyah on the other hand was very careful, she took two glasses of wine and she clearly stated that’s he just wanted to dance, she was not trying to get drunk. However, she had deliberately started watching her alcohol intake because she was trying to get pregnant. Simon would care less if she did not drink that much, at least somebody could drive if he did not,

The following morning, Aaliyah was in a mood sulking and not wanting to look at Simon as he asked her to shower in readiness to check out. Simon tried to engage her in a conversation but she was not responsive. This was rather strange of her to do and he asked again what was wrong

“Aaliyah, did I do anything wrong? I thought we both had fun last night and I got you whatever you wanted. Is there anything I am missing?” he asked

Simon moved closed to her and tried to touch her but she moved away.

“Aliyah please let us not do this, we need to check out… if we stay any longer, we might have to pay for another night”

“Is money the problem? I will pay for an extra night; I do not mind”

Simon knew something was seriously wrong and he posed for a moment before he finally asked the one question, he never assumed was necessary.

“Is it because we have not been intimate?”

Aliyah did not respond but the expression on her face said it all.

“So why did you not just say it? Why did you not initiate? I thought we were on the same page. You know work has been really stressing me out and its normal that I had my mind destructed… I didn’t think it was that much of a big deal”

When Simon moved closer to reach for her lips, he said something that made Aliyah even more upset.

“I am beginning to think that you are getting things twisted, we have already talked about this before. I hope you are not thinking in any other lines. You are a wonderful woman Aaliyah and you deserve a good man who can give you love. I am not that man”
