FINE WINE 5
It
had been three weeks, Elisha still could not bring himself to call Thokozile
despite how much he wanted to. A part of him was hesitant because he figured
for a lady to leave without saying bye meant his odds were low. With not much
options left on his end, Elisha opted to try his luck and call Thoko’s line. He
had created a special moment for this call, having made sure his day was
concluded and everything had gone as planned, Elisha waited patiently for a
response from Thoko. After three tries with no response Elisha figured he was
being a bother and opted to let her be. Meanwhile, his daughter was waiting for
him to get home so they could proceed to their date.
Pulling
in his parking lot, Elisha sighed heavily at the thought of his daughter not
buying his excuse. He was cancelling their daddy daughter date for the third
time in a row. Even though, Sally had everything at her disposal, she cared
about her father so much that she would do anything to be with her. Elisha
loved his daughter so much but he was so over doing dates with her at all
times, he wanted to be in a relationship and this time more than ever, he
wanted to settle down. Walking majestically to his three storey home, a thought
crossed his mind. It had been like this for 14 years and this time it was
getting worse because he no longer had zeal to cover up his unhappiness. Elisha
was successful, he had done well for himself as a lawyer but was also privileged
to have a dad who was a successful minister.
“daddy!”
Emily screamed from her room window upstairs
“Hey
beautiful” Elisha reluctantly replied
“No
you can do better daddy”
“Im
tired” he said with a plastic smile
The
entrance to his house was a huge kingdom door, he had designed his house with a
big family in mind. 6 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, two lounging areas, a study room,
two kitchens, a large lounge area, state of the art gym as he loved to keep fit
and a beauty room for his daughter. The santorini swimming pool was the centre
of attraction as it gave Greece vibes and it over looked a beautiful barbeque
area and perfectly landscaped lawn. Elisha had spent 4 years of his 14 years of
bachelorhood preparing a future for his family that he had forgotten to live.
He worked so hard that not once did he realise the years were flying by and Emily
was advancing in her teens with no siblings and no complete family. He was all
she had because her mother had chosen a different life in the Caribbean’s with an
Italian man she met on a vacation Elisha sponsored in Italy. There was no relationship in existence between
them, not even for the child.
Sally
approached her dad fully dressed for dinner and ready to go.
“Dad
I am not taking no for an answer.. please let’s go”
“Emily
Salifyanji my daughter... You look so beautiful” he said destructing her
“No
dad let’s go”
