“If this covid certificate is not issued today we may delay another 2 days” Thandi said to a very impatient Enesie.

The two were having lunch at a seafood place as Thandi had been craving. Enesie had been planning the vacation for so long that every other delay frustrated her efforts.

“You know what.. maybe this Dubai thing is not meant to happen” Enesie sighed

“Let’s jut go to Italy… I said it once and I am saying it again…” Thandi insisted.

Thandi had been to Italy before but was looking for another opportunity to go, she prayed long and hard about it and was certain her next trip would be to Italy. This time the trip was even more exciting because her friend was now living there. Enesie was not so keen about it despite their earlier discussions before she got to S.A. With a deep sigh, Enesie thought of what could possibly be delaying the trip to Dubai. She knew all things happen for a reason but this she refused to admit especially regarding Dubai.

“Thandi.. I can’t just pass on Dubai. Girl I have planned this from last year… I just don’t want to admit there’s a reason why Dubai is not happening… I have stayed a week here already this was not part of the plan. Our days are just getting robbed, soon my vacation will be over”

“Luckily for you, you are not spending any money here… let’s go to Milan, my friend will host us.. we won’t even need a hotel. We just need to fly there and that is it. Just imagine having free accommodation yet visiting all the beautiful places you can imagine. We even get to take local flights to see other interesting places…”

“Like?”

“Oh there’s so much to see in Italy.. and there’s a lot of nice food and drinks.. girl Italy is the hub of everything you love and more”

Enesie looked at her phone to check her mail and nothing seemed promising, she was not yet contacted concerning the covid certificate.

“But we will still need the covid certificates to get out of this country” she said.

Thandi nodded her head reluctantly.

“Lets do this, with this change of plans and all.. if the covid certificate comes by tomorrow then I am certain beyond all reasonable doubt that we were just meant to go to Italy” Thandi said

“Or.. just not to jinx it, I suggest we wait another day… if it doesn’t come by tomorrow then we make plans to leave after tomorrow. Deal?” Enesie said

Elisha checked in all his luggage just after his daughter and her friend. They were going to be on a long flight which they would connect from Addis Ababa to Milan. Elisha took a sigh of relief as he imagined what the trip would be like with two teenagers and himself. As usual, his trips were never properly planned for himself but he always had his daughter in mind. A quick check on his phone as they waited to board the plane, Elisha was somewhat sad that he had a whole life ahead of him but with nothing much to look forward to. This trip could have been better with his wife.  Mildred and Elisha had been together since high school, she always seemed happy but little did he know she needed more. She said he was so boring and out of touch. He could have never guessed when she begun to feel this way as it seemed they were always happy. Elisha saw his ex wife a lot in his daughter, she too loved life and wanted to have a lot of fun.

“Dad, we are going to use the bathroom  quick. We will be right back”

“Be quick”

Emily hurried on with her best friend and Elisha looked on, so many couples were waiting to board.

“Hai.. “

A not so familiar voice greeted and Elisha raised his head to look just to be sure the greeting was for him.

“Oh Halo..”

A beautiful chubby lady stood before him, she reminded him of Thoko a little as she had a similar body structure. However, this lady was very light in complexion. It’s almost as if she had a colored Gene.

“I am sorry, I am so late. I just want to use the bathroom real quick but this hand luggage will slow me down. Let me just rush to the bathroom I won’t be long” she said.

“Oh and my name is June” she said.

“Oh okay… you can put it right here next to me” he said.

June was clad in an all white, long but lose fitting jump suit. Elisha could only imagine how long it would take her to take it off. June hurried on as her long weave waved from side to side as she increased her pace, her slippers leaving a loud clapping sound. The teens were not gone for long and they returned shortly but June also returned just after them. They three had met in the bathroom and exchanged a short conversation, she had spoken of how she was going to Milan on the phone. Emily was exited to mention she was also going to Milan and mentioned they would probably meet later as her dad would go crazy waiting on her.

“Dad there’s this lady we met, she’s also going to Milan and she…”

“Well are you talking about me?” June said with a smile.

“Oh.. what a surprise.. you’re going to Milan?” Elisha said with giggle

June could not hide her excitement as it was the first time that she was connecting with anyone from zambia going to Italy. Despite how many times she made these trips, it never got easy. She hated flying.
