RENTED LIFE CHAPTER 31
Simon was interacting with his cousins by the pool area while Kuni was relaxing by the lawn area with Amanda and Simons female cousins. Amanda was excitedly telling everyone about how Simon’s dad had already started planning the wedding. He was very excited. Kuni listened wondering what was going on as wedding plans could only start after the official engagement and he had not yet proposed. Simon’s cousins seemed really cool and down to earth despite how wealthy they were, this made Kuni relaxed and at home. Moments did not pass where she was wondering what she was doing but she played along to the script. All she needed was be present when his family was around and after their departure, she would flip back to her normal life.
At some point, some left everyone as if he was receiving a call and Kunis heart ached a little, it seemed like it was Aaliyah on the phone as he looked a little stressed. Kuni would care less where everything was going at this point, she kept her calm and remained interacting with everyone until Simon’s mum called everyone inside the house again.
“Come in everyone, we were setting up a birthday surprise for my dear husband, as you know he turned 70 last month, let us all come in and sing him a song. Shall we?”
Kuni was excited to follow everyone behind, for whatever reason everything was fun in this place and she seemed to be present in the moment for once. Simon was still nowhere in sight and Kuni was getting a little worried as they walked in to the house. How dare he bring her to a place full of strangers and he disappears. As they walked in, Kuni notice Amanda and Simons cousin move quickly and she was a little out of place, a part of her wanted to remain behind in the garden and just wait for them to do their thing but one Simons aunties called out to her to hurry up.
Kuni increased her steps and when she walked into the house a wave of shock filled her. There was a red carpet leading to the living room with rose petals

almost everywhere, Simon had a couple of banners printed and placed along that pathway with pictures of her and some of them together, each picture had a message of how beautiful she was and how he deeply loved her. Kuni felt if she could run away, that was a perfect moment but she couldn’t, everything seemed so perfect, tears began running from her eyes. Everyone thought they were tears of joy but it was her pain which could not be expressed. Why would Simon put her through all this drama? Was it worth it at all?
Simon was standing in the living room in front of a he backdrop which read “Will you marry me?” Kuni could not believe her eyes as she approached him. Everyone was cheering and clapping and excited. Kuni was furious, even if money could buy anything, this was the last thing Simon could do, for the sake of any respect he had for himself, he did not need to go this far. How could he when her best friend was pregnant with his baby?
“Kuni my love” Simon said as he knelt down before her.
“If I told you I have ever been happier, y family is my witness here, you have brought a joy and a light that I have never felt so deeply about any woman. You have taught me how true love can be found in simplicity, you have shown me why I should always trust Gods timing and how he makes all things beautiful. I have never known true love until I met you, I would be damned if I ever let you go...” he said.
Kuni shed tears more excruciating pain attacked her chest, all this felt like mockery and although Simon deserved the worst there ever was, she still like his family and parents to put them through the embarrassment
Poor kuni.
