RENTED LIFE CHAPTER 37

 Kuni was seated on the bed next to her mother anxiously waiting for the moment she was going to be called. Kuni was calm and had her mind focused on how beautiful all this would have been if it was finally her turn. However, she had not done anything crazy in her life and this was about the craziest thing yet. Her mother asked her from time to time how she was feeling and she was open enough to mention that aside from a little nerves, she was confident in her decision.

“I cannot believe all has worked out, you got a beautiful job, a wonderful man and the farm is fairing well... God is good” her mother said.

“He is mum” Kuni replied.

Kuni had been to the saloon the previous day and her was plaited in neat fishtail and she had worn a neat chitenge matching the shirt that Simon wore.

Finally, Kunis aunty came to call Kuni and her mother and they came out together., Kuni was glowing and looking very beautiful, Simon was blown away by her beauty as she sat on the floor next to her mother.

“Is she the one?” Simon’s uncle asked.

“Yes, she is the one” Simon replied.

Kuni was released to go back to her room and all other negotiations were made. Finally, there was a wedding to plan and Kunis parents could not be happier. Life back in Lusaka was now more peaceful and calm, Kuni was visiting Aaliyah often. The cravings were wild, often times she called Kuni complaining about what she was craving and Kuni would not hesitate to have food delivered to her best friend. Simon was very occupied with his parents but he made time to always call Kuni and even take her shopping. Much to her dismay, Kunis dad and Simon’s dad had become very close, they often discussed farming and everything regarding that as Simon’s dad had two farms which Simon had also been managing.

“You most unique person I have ever met... I think you are made of steel... you have kept this secret for three months... how do you even face him? Do you not kiss, do you not touch? None of that?” Celine asked

“well I have not kissed or slept with him in a very long time, since I knew the whole truth.. it was never about that anymore”

“You know I am starting to thin k this guy has something up his sleeves, I do not trust your friend and this guy... they are up to no good”

“Celine... stop being superstitious we have talked about this... I have told you there’s nothing more than this arrangement... what’s the worst that could happen? They get married after my divorce?”

“well ya... will your parents heal form this? Have you not at least thought of how this will make them feel? Can you stop worrying about this guy who doesn’t even care at this point... the two have played you... and anyway wait a minute...” “so you are about to start with another one of your theories... I don’t want to hear it” Kunii said.

“awe wait... so make me understand why you are being used as a pawn and a bet in all this.. why did he just not use your fiend? Isn’t she already pregnant at this point?”

“my honest question is why you?”

“While you try to understand they whys, I am having my dream wedding and whatever happens after that... I don’t care”

“Kuni.. mwaiche problem you think you can be smart with me. Theres something you are not telling me...”

“What? I cannot give you what I do not have”

“Okay great. well... I just want you to know that I am worried for you that’s all... I think you are in denial... this is not real... even the wedding dressing you went shopping for... all that is not real... Simon has another woman pregnant who he will elope with soon. Or whatever will happen but you all are crazy...”

“it’s not that deep Celine let it go...”

Kuni took a sigh of relief.

“Well, I wish I had an answer for you but I have a wedding to plan.
