RENTED LIFE CHAPTER 38

 Aaliyah looked at her friend one last time as she watched her mother drape down her veil, Kunis mum was so excited, she had been waiting for this day form the very first day she learnt of it and she had prayed unrelenting. Aaliyah was in her draping long bridesmaid dress; her baby bump was clearly protruding through but she would not miss the opportunity to be a bridesmaid when Kuni asked her. Both ladies were worried about how everything would eventually go after the wedding, it could either go do bad or so good but for all that it was worth, it would forever remain etched on their hearts that they did one last escapade together as friends. Kuni and Aaliyah were not new to escapades since their college days but this was the worst of them all.

Aaliyah shed a tear as he looked at her friend, Kuni was confused, she didn’t understand what really was happening as this was supposed to be a fin day for both of them. Kunis mother rubbed her daughters’ hand and asked her if she was ready.

“I am ma... I am” she said.

Kuni looked at herself in the mirror and she looked gorgeous. She was almost also getting emotional but she held it together. Celine was her matron and although she put herself together she was not having it, there were moment’s where she wanted to flip but held herself together. Kuni had insisted only she could be her matron because she already knew what was happening. She couldn’t fool anyone anymore.

Aailyah lifted Kunis tail and and left led her friend to the car as they were already late.

“Are you okay?” Kuni whispered to her.

“Yes, I am fine...”

“You two will ride in your own car and I will come in another car... there’s plenty of cars to pick from..” Celine said to Kuni and Aaliyah”

Kunis mother refused, she decided she would rather move with daughter and Kuni did not oppose.

The ride to the church was peaceful, Kuni had her three younger siblings joining Aaliyah as bridesmaids while Simon had his male cousins and his best friend Clive. Simon was excited as he patiently waited at church, the guys had talked about all this and it was finally coming. The wedding was held at the beautiful cathedral of the holy cross as Simon was Anglican and Kuni was marrying into the Anglican church. They had gene through all the teachings of the church and not once did Kuni feel like backing out, she stood her ground and went ahead up to the last day. everything seemed easy until it was time to alight the vehicle and walk into church. Aaliyah was worried, she did not know if her friend could do it, she hoped Kuni would not change her mind. They had come so far.

Kuni was very emotional as the car pulled over that tears filled her eyes, her mother was spoke to her calmly.

“My love... Kuni... I want you to know your father and I are proud of you...” “Thank you mum” Kunii said wiping her tears,

“Look at you, don’t ruin the lovely makeup come on”

The grooms’ men stood up as the ladies walked in, Aaliyah was first in line... she walked in slowly and Simon looked at her emotionless... Aaliyah had made peace with everything. In that moment she hoped it would not hurt seeing him in a suit ready to marry somebody else. Although they had spoken at length over this, Kunii was not convinced Simon would bring himself to divorce Kuni after the wedding but she still gave it a benefit of a doubt. It was not so much about the divorce anymore as it was about the child. How would she face the world knowing her friend was married to the father of her child. All these things should

have been the least of her worries because Kunii still did not know if Simon was the father of her child. Aaliayh had still been actively involved with Remy, he was a gym instructor she had met a couple of months earlier and although they never defined their relationship, the two had actively been intimate.
