 “Simon is actually on his way here” Aliyah said.

Kuni was a little pained but it was normal, she expected that. She knew what she was getting herself into. However, something about remaining in that hotel room alone that morning felt insulting. She did not expect much but even his silence when she mentioned that she knows was appalling. He did not seem at all moved. “Well, he has to come see mother and baby, I understand” Kuni said.

“No... it’s not like that... Kuni I want to see you... I need to see you but maybe I might not get the chance because are you not supposed to leave for your honeymoon tomorrow?”

“Aaliyah... what are you saying?”

“Simon and I already talked about this Kuni... I am sorry I did not tell you... I didn’t want you to call off the wedding”

“What are you saying?” Kuni asked anxiously.

“Kuni, Simon is not getting a divorce... Kunii there’s no other ending to this story... you are married now. I hope you consummated your marriage last night...” “Aaliyah what are you saying?” Kuni asked in panic.

“I am saying exactly what I am saying... Kuni, Simon and I are not together... we have never been ... yes we had our escapades but life is not a Nigerian movie... he loves you and that is all that matters...”

“Loves me?... Aliyaha you are carrying his child.

“It is not his Kuni...” she interrupted.

“I just wanted to pin it on him because I was jealous... I did not want him to let go of me but Kuni I have tried everything to win Simon’s heart... he is not the

man for me... he loves you and I am very much okay with that. Sydney has already accepted his baby and he has taken me to antenatal from my first visit” Tears rolled down Kunis face as she listened.

“Aaliyah now you are playing with me... what is the meaning of this? What do you mean?”

“Kuni, I am content with Sydney, he is a great man I just wanted Simon because it was something safe and familiar... I thought Sydney had no future”

“Aaliyah wait wait... let me get this straight ... you have been sleeping with Simon for years...”

“Just a year and some months Kuni and we were never exclusive... it was not consistent... I had other partners and I presumed he did. People do these things all the time the only difference is that I am your friend...”

“Great... you are my friend... why on earth do you think I would want what you had?”

“Well but don’t you?” Asked almost mockingly...

“Aaliyah...”

“Kuni you love Simon... you both love each other, it is not a secret...” “Aaliyah...”

“Kuni!! See that I did well to play along until after the wedding now look at you... you would have walked away if not for me doing this...”

“I feel like a pawn, like a cheap bet in all your games:

“Cheap bet going to three holiday destinations for your honeymoon... honey you are the living the dream of many women. You know how many women would have loved to be with Simon but he chose you...?”

Kuni sighed heavily.

“No Aaliyah, I will never be secure and happy... this is not the type of marriage I want”

Aaliyah stated silent hearing Kuni whine until she finally suggested.

“Ok fine... go ahead, do the money and everything you need to... go and have your fun. You can ignore hi if you like whilst there. Go and live your best life girl and when you are done... come back and file for divorce, simple.. what do you have to lose?”

“So what is eh coming to do there” Kuni asked.

“uhmm look at you... madam I’m not interested... are you not concerned now why your husband is coming here?”

“Aaliyah stop...” Kuni said tiredly.

“Your man is the cafeteria like he told you... I was teasing...” Aliyah said.

“Oh My God...” Kuni sighed.

“Wetting concern your God? Just go and carter to your husband or ignore until you are ready.. whatever you decide.. I will be here but honestly I am sorry. I owe you my life... you didn’t deserve this”

“No I did not...” Kuni said.

“I am sorry... but I am comfortable with one thing and one thing only... Kuni. Simon loves you... I believe what they say...one day a woman will walk into a man’s life and he will know.. Simon has never been more certain Kuni... I am sorry...”

“I will be okay...” Kunii said as she wiped her tears.

Simon looked at his phone anxiously, it was Aaliyah calling. He breathed in

heavily before picking up.

“Aaliyah...”

“Simon I am deleting your number after this... I have done you the very last favor... no more favors... I am not playing along to anything and if you dare hurt her Simon, I swear...”

“Aaliyah I will do no such thing... best believe I will not do that”

“Good... go to her... I think she is crying right now... it overall went okay. but really there’s no easy way of doing this
